I have always been a techy guy. I would hack our home phone, rip things apart to build something new, and upgrade as often as I could. I look back on all the cool stuff that technology is changing and even eliminating like the Encyclopedia Britannica, they have printed their last hard copy EVER! Here are some things I grew up with that my youth group is very distant from and things my own children will probably never experience.

They Yellow Pages (Hits the recycle bin the moment it arrives)

Anything Sony (Walkman, Watchman, CD Walkman)
VHS/Bets/DVD players or recorders
Travel Agents
The Mix Tape
Paper Driving Map
Point and Shoot Cameras (with the cameras in our cell phones these are all but dead)

I have been serving in youth ministry for nearly 20 years, am currently the Director of Student Ministries at Valley Church in Des Moines, IA, and am on a first name basis with several Best Buy employees. My wife Keri and I have been married over ten years and have three great boys. My four favorite things are Jesus, my wife, Chicago Style Pizza, and fighting off our boys with sweet ninja moves.

the other day my wife and I took my son to an elderly couples house to visit and they had an answering machine on the end table. My son looked at it like it was from outer space, it was hysterical.
