I often use one of our local Starbucks as a second office. While I am there, deep in productivity, I seem to miss calls and messages. This is not always a bad thing but there are times I wish I were more alert. Well, I think I found an answer. Playing around with my iPhone today I discovered a helpful little tool called “LED Flash for Alerts” that is built right in your iPhone! If you have an iPhone go to Settings>General>Accessibility>LED Flash for Alerts. Now with LED Flash for Alerts turned on your iPhone’s flash will…FLASH when you get an alert. I just turned it on and called myself. It is a little annoying but it cot my attention. I might not always feel that vibration with the ringer off but I will easily see this flash as long as the phone is in the correct position.
One of the things that frustrates me about my iPhone is the inability to pair it with my MacBook Pro. I do not know why Apple would limit this ability but it is unfortunate. I have an app called BluePhoneElite 2 that I loved using with my Droid phones. This app uses a phone’s bluetooth to connect to a Mac (my Mac) and when you receive a call you see the caller ID appear on your computer screen. It is pretty slick but does not work with my iPhone.
So far the only fool proof way of not missing calls has been to listen to music from my iPhone. If I get a message or call I can hear it in my headphones. Check out the LED Flash for Alerts feature, if nothing else it’s a cool toy.

Thanks for the tip. Had this feature on my Blackberry and have missed it.
